THOT: is used intentionally to honor, The Developer of Chiropractic, BJ Palmer. BJ would use the word ‘THOT’ to reference a sudden and timely remembering or a flash of inspiration. BJ believed these spontaneous THOTs were a subconscious mental impulse credited to one’s Innate Intelligence as it communicated to one’s conscious, educated brain. The spelling was altered to differentiate it from the intentional and educated ‘thoughts’ we are consciously aware of during normal waking hours. This idea is synonymous with those that testify to being guided by a inner wisdom or receiving instruction directly from God or something similar; ultimately giving credit to a power beyond themselves. We hear this from artist’s and great thinker’s all the time; that they were spontaneously possessed by a creative force and their music, painting, poem or invention was the result of listening and allowing themselves to be guided by the imaginative intuition flowing into them and then out of them; above down, inside out. True and great artists acknowledge that they are merely a hollow vessel or receptive antenna to these THOTs. That their ‘job’ is to remain open and receptive so when they are struck by a flash of inspiration, they may bottle as much of it as possible to share with humanity. BJ suggested that everyone had ‘genius’ inside them, the only difference between a average Joe and a Albert Einstein or Wolfgang Mozart was simply their ability to remain open and receptive to these THOT flashes and, most importantly, ACT on them.
