Doctor’s Brandan Chretien and Eric McQueston first met in the fall of 2016 at their chiropractic college orientation day, in sunny California. It is no coincidence that the development of their friendship is entangled in their personal discovery and journey with chiropractic. Due to the structure of chiropractic college, you move through the program as a cohort taking all the same classes, at the same time. Naturally, spending all day, everyday together, it didn’t take long for the two Albertans to connect over their love for Canada, their passion for sport, especially hockey, (even though Dr. B is an Oiler fan & Dr. E is a Flames fan) and their deep desire to learn everything about the unique and special healing art of chiropractic!
The two docs helped one another get through the grind of chiropractic school, including the unforgiving amount of tests and board exams, the long days attending lectures, the weekends spent at seminars, the evenings practicing technique and meeting the requirements of out-patient clinic. During downtime, the two, along with a tight circle of friends would takeoff to the beach to swim or surf, or to the Redwoods to camp and explore the beauty of California. Many late nights were shared around a campfire discussing ideas, concepts and techniques of chiropractic, helping them refine their personal perspective and approach to the 130 year old profession.
After living together and graduating together from Life Chiropractic College in early April of 2019, Dr. B headed back to Alberta to split time between 2 clinics, one in Edmonton, the other in High Level, where he was born and raised. Dr. E headed back to his hometown of Calgary, where he spent the first 2 years working at a family clinic in the city before moving to a small B.C town. While in Creston, Dr. E opened his own office to serve the Creston Valley for the next 3.5 years. During these years apart, the doctors stayed very close – it was rare to let a week go by without a phone call. Both doc’s acknowledge how important these calls were for a rant, sharing wins and challenges, and continuing to discuss their ever evolving chiropractic philosophies.
In early 2024, the idea of working together went from being an ongoing and distant fantasy to a very legitimate idea. As conversations became more serious and challenging questions, like location, got sorted, the vision of what is now known as ‘The Chiropractic Shop’ started to crystalize. In March of 2024, the duo set their hearts on the community of Beaumont, AB as the future home for The Shop and set forth on what would be the most challenging mission since graduating chiropractic college.
It’s now May of 2025 and the vision is manifest. The Chiropractic Shop officially opened May 1, 2025 and the guys are so grateful to all those who helped bring a faint idea to life. The celebration was short and sweet as the doc’s have turned their attention to the next chapter – serving those in the Beaumont and Leduc communities!
